Eileen Rooney Pottery, background

“… we are the clay and you our potter: we are all the work of your hand.” IS 64:7

I began working with clay began in 1979, while a student at Briar Cliff College, in Sioux City, IA.  I was introduced to pottery during my sophomore year and was hooked immediately – spending much of my spare time in the ceramic studio over the next three years.

Happily, I returned to pottery in 2001, when I became associated with Omaha Clay Works in the Old Market district. I took a number of refresher classes there over the years and eventually became a monthly member, Many happy evenings and weekends were spent developing my style. Eventually, I sold my work through their gallery. It was at OCW that I met my mentor, Henry Serenco, a retired professor from the University of Nebraska Omaha. I continue to meet with Henry on a regular basis.

Omaha Clay Works closed at the end of 2017, causing the establishment of my home studio. I continue to grow in my art, learning new techniques, interacting with fellow potters, and expanding my marketing knowledge.

I hope you enjoy viewing the work that is posted on this website and will perhaps visit me during one of my shows. You are, of course, welcome to contact me directly to schedule a personal viewing/purchase of my pottery between shows.
